Reached for: Nasturtims

Some part of me never quite finished growing up, held back where a stronger will kept me small.

It shows up as arrested development, a growth and maturation stalled at an earlier stage, because a highly willful mother overwhelmed and oppressed the room a self needs to come fully into its own. The staying-young is not chosen so much as never allowed to end. What it asks for is one act of full-grown will, exercised away from the maternal hold.

The Archetypal Form

Paul Morel, whose coming-into-himself was bound and outweighed by a mother whose will filled the whole house, so that no future could compete with her hold. The form implies a task: to grow up out from under the hold.
