Carried: Shingles (Painful viral infection and blisters along the nerves)
“I'm always waiting for the next bad thing, because at home the next bad thing always came.”
It shows as a generalized dread, a body braced for the other shoe to drop, scanning ahead for the disaster it feels sure is coming. Beneath the vigilance sits a large unmet need for protection and care, and a banked anger at having been left so exposed. It was learned being tossed about, helpless, by a family bent on its own harm. What it asks for is to notice that this present moment is not, in fact, the catastrophe it keeps rehearsing.
Andromeda, chained at the water's edge to wait for the rising of a doom she had no power to prevent. The form implies a task: to learn the chain is off, and one need not stand fixed awaiting the monster.
