Carried: Thigh Problems (II)

Out there among colleagues and peers, I'm improvising a part I never saw anyone play.

The trouble is on the acting side, in the world of work and public consequence: how to put strength into effect, how to accept a commitment, how to stand alongside colleagues without suspicion. Support given to others comes out awkward, support taken from them comes out worse, and the question of what will be left behind by all this effort stays uncomfortable. None of this was demonstrated in childhood, where every attempt at making a mark was interfered with. What the shape asks for is one commitment accepted and carried in full view of other people.

The Archetypal Form

Telemachus in his father's hall, of age and unsure by what right he speaks among older men. The form implies a task: to speak once as though the right were already established.
