It holds a wish for a sudden, complete departure, a sense of having reached a point where there was no more to be gained by staying, or where staying had become intolerable, and a readiness to be gone with no delay or drawn-out pain. The pattern may also carry a felt tie to another that it treats as binding; that is held as the pattern's own reading, not asserted as fact. Where the wish to be gone is live, its work belongs with another person, not with a reading.

Enoch, of whom it was said only that he walked, and then was not, for he was taken, gone without struggle or long farewell. The form implies a task: to find one more thing worth the staying, or to say the wish aloud to someone.
