It keeps its own force and authority shut down, avoiding responsibility and anything that would require standing at full height, out of a conviction that what is being held back is not merely unwelcome but dangerous. A dominating mother made it plain that this register of the person was wicked, so the power was never trained, only sealed, and untrained power is exactly the kind that confirms the fear. What it asks for is a measured portion used on purpose, somewhere the result can be watched.

If I ever really let it out, I'd take the room with me. So I don't.

It echoes Cu Chulainn in his warp-spasm, unrecognisable and unable to tell friend from enemy, whom they had to plunge into cold water before he could be let back among his own people. The form implies a task: to learn the aiming rather than the sealing.
